A free alternative to the Monopoly app

The official Monopoly app is paid and needs everyone to install it. Kiraya is free in any browser, so a group can play from one link.

Why people look for one

The licensed Monopoly app by Marmalade Game Studio is the official board game, and if your group wants the real board it is the one to buy. The reasons people look elsewhere are practical: it costs money, every player has to install it on a supported device, and the friend on a work laptop or an old phone is left out. Kiraya is not affiliated with Marmalade, Hasbro or Monopoly.

One link instead of an install

Kiraya runs in the browser. One person makes a private room and sends a link; everyone else taps it, types a name and is in, on whatever phone, tablet or computer they have. Nobody buys anything, creates an account or waits for a download.

What is the same, what is not

	The official app	Kiraya
Board and names	The licensed board	Original maps: World Tour and Harborline
Cost	Paid	Free, nothing to buy
Install	Required for every player	None, it runs in a browser
Account	Per the app	None
Players	Per the app	2 to 8 in one room
Offline play	Per the app	No, an internet connection is needed

Details of the official app change with its updates, so its store listing is the source for anything marked "per the app".

Questions

Is there a free version of the Monopoly app?

The official board-game app is paid. Monopoly GO is free but is a different game. Free browser games in the genre, such as Kiraya, play the board-game loop at no cost.

Can I play a Monopoly-style game without downloading an app?

Yes. Kiraya runs in any modern browser, on a phone or a computer, with nothing to install.

Can people on iPhone and Android play together?

Yes. Kiraya is a web page, so iPhone, Android and computer players all join the same room.
