Kiraya FAQ

Answers to common Kiraya questions about rooms, bots, tutorials, turns, auctions and saved progress.

Open the game

Do I need an account?

No. You choose a display name for a room. The browser remembers local preferences and a recent seat to help with reconnecting, but this is not an account.

Can I play alone?

Yes. Play against bots starts a private bot table, and guided practice starts an easy bot game with optional lessons. Both need a connection because games run on the server.

What if I disconnect?

Kiraya keeps your seat briefly so you can reconnect. During a game, an absent player can later be replaced by a bot to keep the table moving.

The board loads but never updates

Kiraya keeps every player in sync over a websocket connection, which is separate from the request that loaded the page. Some managed networks โ€” schools, workplaces, public wifi โ€” allow the page through and block the socket, and the result looks exactly like this: the board appears, and then nothing ever moves. There is nothing in the game that can work around it, and network administrators decide what their network permits. On a Chromebook or a school laptop this is the usual explanation; trying a different network is the quickest way to confirm it.

The guide says one thing and my game does another

The room is right. Every rule on this site describes a standard table, and a host can change many of them before the first roll. If something in a game does not match what you read here, open the room settings before assuming it is a bug โ€” and if they do match and it still looks wrong, the problem report in the header sends us the room state along with your description.

Why there is no save button

Kiraya has no accounts and no database, on purpose. A room lives in the server's memory and disappears when the last player leaves, which is what makes a game quick to start and impossible to grind. The trade is real: there is nothing to come back to tomorrow, no profile, no rank and no saved game. If a group wants to stop halfway, the honest answer is to finish on a shorter round limit rather than expect to resume.
