A card game, not the board game

Monopoly Deal is a fast card game published by Hasbro under the Monopoly brand. There is no board and no dice. Players draw cards, bank money, lay down property cards, and play action cards to charge rent, steal properties or swap them. The first player to lay down three complete property sets in different colours wins. A game takes about fifteen minutes. Kiraya is not affiliated with Hasbro or Monopoly Deal.

What it keeps from the board game

The colour sets, the idea that a complete set is what matters, and rent as the way you take money from other players. What it drops is everything slow: there is no moving around a board, no building over several laps, and no hours-long endgame.

Playing it online

Licensed digital versions of Monopoly Deal have been released for phones; app stores are the reliable place to check what is currently available in your region and what it costs. Unofficial copies on game sites come and go, and are not the licensed game.

If what you like is the dealing

Monopoly Deal is popular because it is mostly interaction: every turn you are taking something from someone. If that is the part your group likes, a property game built around trading gives you the same thing at a longer, board-game pace. In Kiraya you negotiate deals directly, offering cash and deeds from both sides with counteroffers, rather than playing a steal card.
