Oyster Bay (space 4) — Harborline deed reference
Oyster Bay costs ⬡ 70 on Kiraya's Harborline map. Rent, building costs, mortgage values and its Tideflat Row set.
Learn by playingOyster Bay is space 4 of 28 on Kiraya's Harborline map, one of the Tideflat Row cities. It can be bought for ⬡ 70 by the first player who lands on it and chooses to, and it charges rent to everybody who lands on it afterwards.
What it costs and what it raises
| Value | Coins |
|---|---|
| Purchase | 70 |
| Mortgage cash raised | 40 |
| Redeem mortgage | 45 |
Mortgaging is the game's borrowing valve: it raises ⬡ 40 immediately, the deed stops earning while it is mortgaged, and buying it back later costs ⬡ 45. A player who is one payment short of bankruptcy can mortgage rather than lose the game, which is why it exists.
Rent at every stage of development
| Development | Rent |
|---|---|
| No set or buildings | 8 |
| Complete unimproved set | 16 |
| 1 house | 32 |
| 2 houses | 80 |
| 3 houses | 144 |
| 4 houses | 208 |
| Hotel | 280 |
Rent starts at ⬡ 8 and reaches ⬡ 280 with a hotel, which is 35 times what a bare deed collects. That multiple, not the purchase price, is what makes a completed set decisive: the printed ⬡ 70 tells you almost nothing about what landing here costs late in a game.
Each building costs ⬡ 40 and sells back for 50% of that, so developing is easy to enter and expensive to reverse. A mortgaged property collects nothing at any level.
The Tideflat Row set
Oyster Bay is one of 2 cities in this group. You need all 2, with no mortgage anywhere in the group, before you can build on any of them.
- Mud Lane (space 2)
- Oyster Bay (this page)
Standard rules require even building: you improve the least-developed city in the group first, so a single street cannot be stacked with a hotel while its neighbours stay empty. The bank also holds a limited number of houses and hotels, so a late-game shortage can block development entirely.
