What a Surprise does
Landing on Surprise triggers one of several effects rather than drawing from the normal event deck. Depending on the table's settings and the state of the game these range from a cash windfall or an unexpected bill to a couple of turns of protection from rent and fees.
Some Surprise effects only do anything when the gap between the leader and the trailing player is already wide, so on an even table landing here can be a harmless no-op. Everything it does is written into the game log as it happens.
