Passing and landing
Every player begins on START, and passing it pays ⬡ 200 under standard rules. You collect whether you land on it exactly or roll straight past, and a card that moves you forward past it pays the salary too.
This salary is the only income that arrives without owning anything, which is what keeps a player who has lost their properties in the game long enough to recover. Its size relative to rents is the single biggest lever on how long a game runs.
